Holistic Medicine Therapy

Holistic Medicine Therapy

Holistic Medicine encompasses a wide array of natural and functional therapies that can bring the body back to a balanced state, free of disease. These therapies can be used alone or, even more powerfully, together.

Oriental Medicine employs many of these Holistic Medical Therapies to address all aspects of what it means to be human…..physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.  For the fastest return to health, these therapies are meant to be used together.  The most common include:

  1. Nutrition Therapy in the form of Food and Herbal Medicine.
  2. Acupuncture.
  3. Mudpacks and Poultices.
  4. Meditation, Physical Exercise, Stress Reduction.

Nutrition Therapy:

We are what we eat.  This is the most true statement when it comes to the discernment we should be practicing regarding what we put into our bodies.

Our current food system is not even close to being capable of maintaining healthy bodies and minds.  Chemicals, GMO’s, processed foods, fast foods, sugars, low fat diets, unhealthy oils, and nutrient deficient foods are the mainstay of the American diet. Is it any wonder that chronic, degenerative disease now affects over 55% of all Americans?

A return to nutrient dense, locally and sustainably farmed, organic and heirloom food sources is key to a return to health. We should not have to depend on supplements as a ‘stop gap’ to support our wellbeing.  However, until our food sources return to ‘health’ we can utilize whole food source herbs and nutrients to correct deficiencies and damage done by years of poor diet and lifestyle choices.

Acupuncture:

A stagnation in the flow of ‘Qi’ or Energy in the body results in illness.  Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to bring balance back to a body, mind or spirit.  The laws of physics and physiology explain how acupuncture works.  Stimulating points along electrical pathways called ‘meridians’ causes changes to the rate of oscillation of water clusters in the body, and induces the release of chemicals and nutrients that lead to systemic healing of the body.

Acupuncture can be used for pain relief, mood and energy, hormone balance, stress, addictions and many other illnesses.  Acupuncture is actually a small part of Oriental Medicine, comprising about 20%.  For best results, acupuncture is used along with herbal medicine, diet and lifestyle changes.

Mudpacks and Poultices:

Medicinal Poultices and Packs clear stagnation to facilitate healing.  Mudpacks act in a similar fashion as acupuncture in clearing blocked meridian pathways, but without the needles.  Mudpacks can be used to heal old trauma sites, surgery scars, broken bones, piercings and tattoos that have caused blockages in the meridian system.

They can also be used to detox specific organs and glands and restore the optimal uptake of nutrients, supporting whole body healing.  Testing is done to determine the site of the blockages as well as the organs and glands that are negatively affected by them. Therapy can be completed in office or at home.

Meditation, Physical Exercise & Stress Reduction:

Mental, emotional and physical stagnation leads to illness and decay. Modern, fast paced life with all the distractions of phones, television, drama, chaos, social networking, and other modern technology can keep us disconnected from our souls.  We may find ourselves stressed, exhausted, immobilized, sleepless, depressed and anxious.  Nourishing the connection with our souls strengthens our overall wellness.

Taking time to meditate, pray, use breathing or visualization exercises, spending time in nature and physical exercise are ways to stay connected, increase our awareness of our soul’s needs and strengthen our intuition. This connection keeps us balanced in an often unbalanced world. Keeping a balance of ‘head’ and ‘heart’ allows us to make better decisions for ourselves, keeps us safe, healthy and happy.

There are many Holistic Therapies available to support and heal every aspect of being.  Instead of reaching for something to ‘mask’ the symptoms of illness, reach for something that will bring awareness to the root cause of illness.

All true healing must begin at the cause or the source……and not the effect or the symptom.  Therefore, illness is an option, not a requirement……we just have to set our sights in the right direction, and take the appropriate actions.  Healing is available for everyone.
