Iodine Therapy handled by Doctor Kathy Veon with Central Florida Preventive Medicine
What is Iodine Therapy?
Iodine has been used as a medical or healing treatment for over 15,000 years. It is a relatively rare earth element that is necessary for the production of all hormones in the body, including thyroid hormones.
Iodine is highly concentrated in the glandular system with the thyroid having the highest concentration, followed by the breasts, ovaries, uterus, prostate, brain, cerebrospinal fluid, eyes, salivary glands and the gastric mucosa. Iodine also supports healthy immune function. In fact, every tumor suppressing gene in the body requires iodine and selenium for healthy expression.
The powerful therapeutic actions of iodine include:
- Anti-bacterial
- Anti-cancer / Anti-tumor
- Anti-parasitic
- Anti-viral
- Mucolytic Agent
Iodine also protects the body against toxic halides such as bromide, chloride and fluoride often found in medications, baked goods, pesticides, treated drinking water, fire retardants, sodas and energy drinks, as well as many other chemical and heavy metal exposures. This brings us to the question “Why are we so deficient?” Increased exposures to chemical substances and wireless radiation in our modern day life will require our bodies to have more iodine to protect our cells as well as remove the toxic substances that adhere to the iodine receptors, reducing iodine absorption and leading to low tissue saturation levels.
Recent studies have indicated a strong correlation between low iodine levels and cancer, revealing 81% of cancer patients have severely low iodine levels. The US RDA for iodine is only 150 mcg per day. This is a substantial contrast to the daily intake of iodine found in the traditional Japanese diet of 13.8 mg. Japanese consuming a traditional diet are known to have much lower cancer rates than people with more westernized diets. The iodine in table salt is in the iodide form, which does not support the iodine need for the entire body.
The best way to determine tissue saturation of iodine is to take a 24 hour Iodine Loading Test along with testing for the presence of all 3 toxic halogens: fluoride, chloride and bromide. Iodine supplementation can then be used for six months to a year or more to replenish tissue saturation. This process will often detox many harmful substances from the body and allow the immune system and endocrine system to function at optimum levels. Iodine therapy sessions are handled at the medical offices of Dr Kathy Veon.
