Root Cause of Mood Disorders
Our modern culture is filled with ‘root causes’ for the dramatic rise in mood disorders. Environmental chemical exposures to endocrine disruptors, heavy metals, molds, pesticides, and chemicals; poor nutrition, genetic predispositions / biochemical pathway impairment, traumatic events, and PTSD, These factors can change the way the brain and neurological system experiences and processes a person’s internal and external environment.
Changes in serotonin, dopamine, and melatonin production can cause anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, addictions, and other mood / behavior-related symptoms. Most people have acquired numerous chemical toxins which can impair neurotransmitter production.
Basic nutrients such as B6, Magnesium, Glycine, Methionine, and Tryptophan can assist the body in detoxing chemicals such as glyphosates, and also provide the basic building blocks to create proper amounts of melatonin, serotonin, and dopamine. Two formulas that are often used together are Mood Guard and Sleep Guard from Perque Integrative Health. A basic protocol for a brain, neurological and endocrine detox can be found here at Fullscript.
Lifestyle Therapy – What are Mental and Emotional Health Holistic Healing Therapies?
Modern living requires much of our time spent in front of a screen. This is very unnatural to the human experience in that it often changes the way the neuropathways of the brain function, which can lead to many mood-related symptoms.
Blue light emitted from screens can deplete melatonin levels. Lack of sunshine depletes us of natural D3, melatonin, and serotonin production, as well as many other energetic and microcosmic healing factors given through the sun’s healing rays.
Spend time outside every day if possible. Something as simple as going for a walk, or mindful ‘walking Qi Gong’ where you spend time listening to and observing nature and the environment around you is very healing.
Choose to forgo the headsets and cell phone while walking. Place any device on airplane mode and engage in a ‘digital detox’, even if it is only for an hour. This practice will help your whole body to heal as it reconnects with the energies of the earth and nature.
Man-made energies are not usually life-giving, so time in nature, spending more time with pets, animals, gardening, or placing your feet and hands fully into the living and life-giving energies around you will heal you. To learn more about how EMFs negatively impact your well-being, please watch this teaching video from Dr. Sharon Goldberg here.
Traumatic experiences at any age can have a negative effect on overall health, however childhood abuse, neglect or abandonment can have profound effects over the lifetime of a person if they do not heal the root causes and the subconscious ‘stress’ incurred from those events.
EVOX Perception Reframing Therapy and Transgenerational Reframing Therapy can help heal the subconscious mind and free the person from negative thoughts and behavioral patterns.
A person can become freer to be who they were created to be, and live with purpose, true joy, and happiness. Past trauma does not have to define our lives or keep us in a diseased state. Our entire being was beautifully created with the ability to heal.
Acupuncture – What are Mental and Emotional Health Holistic Healing Therapies?
Acupuncture, herbal and mineral medicines are very healing for trauma as well as mental and emotional ailments. The Twelve Spirit Points are very powerful and can provide true healing from the root causes of depression, anxiety, insomnia, addictions, negative thought, and behavioral patterns.
For example, the acupuncture point known as Du23 or ‘Upper Star’ (Shangxing) is a ‘Sun Si-miao Ghost point, and is an excellent point to treat many psycho-emotional problems such as depression, excessive sadness, sobbing, fear, as well as anxiety, insomnia, and other types of cerebral hyperexcitation.
Another essential point, GB13 or ‘Root of the Spirit’ (Benshen), is indicated to treat various forms of mental disorders including depression, unreasonable feelings of jealousy and suspicion, constant worry with rigid thinking, schizophrenia, and split personality. Its actions are ‘eliminating wind and resolving phlegm’. ‘Wind’ and ‘Phlegm’ patterns can stem from unresolved anger leading to stagnation, which can be a pathological outcome of abuse, trauma, or emotional neglect.
Topical Mineral Therapy
Topical mineral applications are effective therapies for many mental and emotional imbalances. Topical mineral/gemstone formulas for our modern age include:
Many additional formulas are available for either topical, diffusing, or soaking/bath healing therapies. If you are unsure which formula is best for you, please contact me to discuss the most appropriate prescription.
Nutrigenomics is the scientific study of the interaction of nutrition and genes, especially with regard to the prevention or treatment of disease. The Neuro Psyche Mood Panel from GX Sciences can reveal valuable information about how nutrients and lifestyle therapies can be employed to support excellent mental and emotional health. Please contact the office to order this simple test.
Many more healing resources are available on the Patient Resources page. Consuming nutrient-dense foods, healthy lifestyle habits including daily exercise, sunlight, restful and restorative sleep, healthy thought patterns, relationships, and environments are necessary to achieve true healing.
