How Does Cardiovascular Health and Holistic Healing work well together?
How Does Cardiovascular Health and Holistic Healing work well together? – Cardiovascular disease is increasingly prevalent in our modern society. In fact, it is the leading cause of death in the United States. Poor diet and lifestyle choices, lack of restorative sleep, nutrient deficiencies and toxic environmental exposures are just a few of the root causes of cardiovascular disease.
Holistic therapies to prevent and heal cardiovascular disease address the whole being: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Keep reading to learn more about herbal, nutritional and lifestyle therapies to prevent and heal from cardiovascular disease.
Herbal and Nutritional Therapies | How Does Cardiovascular Health and Holistic Healing work well together?
Cardiovascular Health
Nutrients to support whole body health are important when healing any dis-ease state of the body, mind and spirit. Nutrients specific to support cardiovascular health include the following:
Magnesium
Magnesium is an essential mineral and is involved in more than 350 enzymatic responses and over 80% of metabolic activities. It is often found in foods such as pumpkin seeds, kidney beans and spinach.
Magnesium supports energy production (ATP), and maintains skeletal muscle health, as well as cardiac and vascular health. Magnesium deficiency is extremely common in our society due to poor soil quality and environmental exposures, such as EMFs, which deplete magnesium.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and supports immune function and cardiovascular health. It maintains epithelial barriers and supports collagen synthesis. Vitamin C scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) to protect and promote cardiovascular health by protecting endothelial function. It also helps to maintain a healthy heart rhythm and blood pressure.
Serrapeptase
Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme derived from silk worms. It helps to digest dietary proteins and supports healthy intestinal microbiome. Serrapeptase maintains capillary permeability and supports optimal clearing of cellular waste, as well as controlling inflammation and promoting tissue healing.
Cat’s Claw
Cat’s Claw bark (Uncaria tomentosa) supports healthy immune and inflammatory responses. Cat’s Claw also supports healthy insulin sensitivity, cholesterol levels and liver health. This rare form of Cat’s Claw bark is a powerful supporter and healer of metabolic, cardiovascular and immune system health.
Moringa Leaf
Moringa oleifera supports healthy inflammatory responses, blood glucose and athletic responses as it is an excellent source of many key nutrients such as Magnesium, Vitamins A and C, Riboflavin (B2), Vitamin B6 and Iron. It can help to delay the build-up of lactic acid and maintain healthy metabolism of glucose and lipids.
Stevia
Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) is used as both a natural sweetener and a nutritional supplement. Stevia has been shown in studies to support healthy blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Steviol glycosides help to support pancreatic function and healthy post prandial insulin levels. Stevia also supports a healthy microbiome.
Krill Oil
Antarctic Krill are small shrimp-like crustaceans which feed on phytoplankton and are rich in Omega-3’s. The primary difference between krill oil and fish oil is that krill oil contains Omega-3’s in phospholipid form and fish oil contains Omega-3’s in triglyceride form. Phospholipid forms may be more bioavailable than triglyceride forms. Krill oil also contains choline and astaxanthin and supports ocular, neurological, cardiovascular, skin, joint and muscle health.
A 90 Day Cardiovascular Health Protocol with many of these healing nutrients can be found at Fullscript.
Environmental Exposures
Environmental exposures to light and EMF pollution are very common. Light and EMF pollution can deplete melatonin and inhibit healthy delta wave sleep patterns, as well as vital REM sleep which is absolutely necessary to heal the mind and emotions.
In fact, it has been noted that these exposures can cause a ‘reverse spin’ of the body’s main energy vortices which inhibits healing on all levels. These exposures affect cardiovascular and metabolic health in profound ways. A well respected Cardiologist explains more about the effects of EMFs and LED / fluorescent light exposures here: EMF Pollution Remediation for Better Sleep and Improved Immunity.
Hyssop is an excellent herb to help the body, mind and spirit heal from many toxic exposures. EZOV and additional herbs for lymphatic and glymphatic cleaning and support can be found here at Fullscript: EZOV for Emotional Healing.
Our bodies simply cannot keep up with the demand for protection against oxidative stress caused by EMF exposures. Measures to reduce EMF exposures can be found here:

Diet and Lifestyle
Healthy food and lifestyle choices are the foundation of health. Cardiovascular health is affected by the foods we consume as well as our environment: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. I recommend that people honor their unique biochemistry by using the Blood Type Diet & Lifestyle as a general foundation of wellbeing.
Food therapy can also include Smoothie Formulas for overcoming chronic illnesses. Sourcing the best high quality and high vibrational foods is important. Traditional diets have stood the test of time and offer wisdom that has been forgotten in our modern, fast-paced society.
Healthy sleep is also very important to whole body, mind and spirit healing. Our sleep is affected by lighting, both natural and indoor lighting. I recommend avoiding most LED and fluorescent lighting, as they are harsh on the eyes and neurological system and can disrupt healthy circadian rhythms. Full spectrum lighting supports our whole body health.
Laboratory Testing
Laboratory testing can reveal underlying metabolic issues long before symptoms or a diagnosable disease arise. Fasting Insulin is one of the key markers for metabolic health, inflammation, cardiovascular health, hormone balance and many other health concerns. Doctors rarely run this valuable test.
Many people have normal fasting glucose, but chronically high fasting insulin, also known as Hyperinsulinemia. I almost always run Fasting Insulin as part of a basic Functional Medicine / Clinical Nutrition Panel. The best therapy for Chronic Hyperinsulinemia is anchored in diet and lifestyle choices.
Functional Medicine / Clinical Nutrition laboratory testing is far more comprehensive than typical panels and reveals biochemical imbalances best addressed by food therapy, clinical nutrition, herbal and other holistic healing therapies.
Many more healing resources are available on the Patient Resources page. Consuming nutrient dense foods, energized and structured water, healthy lifestyle habits including daily exercise, sunlight, restful and restorative sleep, healthy thought patterns, relationships and environments are necessary to achieve true healing.
